Simultaneously calm and crackling with collaborative energy, Chris Rosenau and Nick Sanborn deliver you to a specific set of space time coordinates with this ambient masterwork. A pleasant trip, indeed.
Favorite track: Rainy Dog.
This is ace! An uplifting work which I'm so glad I stumbled across. I love how they've left the live incidental ambient sounds in, something I too love to do. Thanks for this beautiful work R+S!
The perfectly arranged order of the songs, the growing depth of the themes touched in each song, harmonized with a very "just as needed" sound production. So different from the first album, yet so similar. It is not a perfect album, of course, as such a thing does not exist, but it helps you imaging one.
Really looking forward to see how this will evolve into the next Phoebe Bridgers big thing.
TLDR: It's ok, I guess fuminides
Sylvan Esso never fails to move me deeply with every album they produce. Poignant from beginning to end. Frequency is a song so in touch with how many of us experience music. Wave after wave, it crashes over us. Leaving us changed from the impact it makes as it passes through our souls. Aantiik
"Better Oblivion Community Center" is two great songwriters in one package. If you like the music of Conor Oberst or Phoebe Bridgers - get this album. If you like the music of both of them - get it by all means. Sven B. Schreiber
Just listened to this for the first time after prematurely putting it on my best-of year-end list, because I knew I'd love it. I wasn't wrong. This is such a stunning album in what I've started calling the "soothe-balm" genre. Beautiful music. This, Alabaster DePlume and Channelers put out my favourite soothe-balms this year. Thank you Em Sprague for this beautiful work. I nabbed Water Memory/Mount Vision too, so I'll be busy on yer stuff a little while... ❄️ thefabulousyawn
